SKYWAY MONTE BIANCO

News

Consisting of three stations with different architectures, the Skyway Mont Blanc cable car creates a connection between earth and sky thanks to its large windows.

Like urban skyscrapers, alpine architectures such as cable cars and ski resorts compete in height with the peaks, playing at touching the sky. These projects assert their contemporary character through avant-garde silhouettes, while adapting to the constraints imposed by nature and explained by science, primarily orography. The buildings clinging to the mountains draw spectacular places, which leave one open-mouthed by their bold features and daring shapes.

One of the recent architectures that best represents this approach is the Mont Blanc Skyway, a cable car designed by Studio Progetti Cillara Rossi that connects Pontal d’Entrèves to Punta Helbronner, passing through the intermediate station of Pavillon du Mont Fréty.

The cable car, which leads up to an altitude of 3,466 metres, consists of three stations characterised by different architectures, each located at a different altitude and designed to integrate perfectly with the surrounding environment, offering a privileged position to observe the immensity of nature. The large windows allow tourists to enjoy the marvellous mountain panorama, creating a direct connection between heaven and earth.
